Download ImageCaramelised Onions Ingredients2 large onions (sliced)2 tbsp butter1/4 tsp salt1/8 tsp ground black pepperStepsIn a large pan, melt butter & add onions.Saute for 20 mins on low heat.Add salt & pepper, cook till onions have fully caramelised (not burnt) & set aside.White Sauce2 tbsp butter2 tbsp flour1 cup milk1/2 tsp salt1/8 tsp ground black pepper1/8 tsp nutmeg powder1/2 cup cheese of choice (grated)Steps White SauceMelt butter in a saucepan on medium low heat.Add flour, stir continuously & cook until mixture has turned a light brown.Add milk, whisk continuously & bring to a boil.Add salt, pepper & nutmeg, continue cooking till sauce has reached desired consistency.Turn off the heat, add cheese, stir well & set aside.Ingredients Beans300 g green beans1/2 cup panko or other breadcrumb of choiceFinishingPreheat oven to 200 deg C.Wash thoroughly, cut off both ends of green beans then cut them in half for easy serving & eating.Blanch for 2 mins, drain, pat dry & transfer into a lightly greased baking tray.Ladle white sauce onto green beans, followed by caramelised onions & panko.Spray panko layer lightly with olive oil & bake for 15 mins or until surface has turned a light brown.Remove from oven & serve immediately.
