Maraschino Cherries (optional- here I use fresh cherries)Instructions1 pour the melted butter into 9” cake pan to coat the bottom and the side2 sprinkle brown sugar evenly on the pan and arrange the pineapple slices at the bottom, and cut in halves for the side; if use cherries, place cherries in the center of the pineapple slices. Set aside.3 make the vanilla batter: in another bowl, whisk the butter and sugar together until combined and creamy4 add 1 egg at a time, mix well and add the vanilla extract5 in another bowl put the dry ingredients together-flour, baking powder and salt; whisk together6 alternate adding the flour mixture and milk into the butter/egg mixture until smooth and well combined7 pour the vanilla cake batter evenly over the prepared pineapple layer8 350 F oven for 30minutes and then cover the cake loosely with an aluminum foil for another 15 minutes ( total baking time is 45 minutes); check with toothpick when time is up, toothpick needs to be clean without wet batter9 cool 15 minutes and then place the plate over the cake pan and turn over!
