Lasagne is an Italian pasta dish made of stacked layers of flat lasagne pasta sheets, tomato-based meat sauce, and creamy béchamel sauce, baked in the oven until golden brown and bubbling. The dish is typically made with ground beef or pork, but can also be made with ground turkey or a vegetarian/vegan meat substitute.

The pasta sheets are cooked first in boiling water until al dente, then drained and cooled. The meat sauce is made by cooking ground meat, onions, garlic, and tomatoes in a skillet with various herbs and spices such as oregano and basil. The béchamel sauce, also known as white sauce, is made by cooking butter and flour in a saucepan, then slowly whisking in warm milk to form a thick, creamy sauce.

Once the pasta and sauces are prepared, the lasagne is assembled in a deep baking dish, starting with a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of pasta sheets, and then a layer of béchamel sauce. This process is repeated until all ingredients are used up, with a final layer of béchamel sauce on top. The dish is then baked in the oven until the top is golden and bubbly.

Lasagne can be served hot and fresh out of the oven or reheated as leftovers. It is often accompanied by a side salad or garlic bread.
